DATA NOTES

After consultation with key stakeholders, the decision was made to release this publication on a quarterly basis commencing with the 2009 September quarter release. The data in this publication relate to the sales of wine in Australia and to reflect this, the content and title have been changed.

With the move from monthly to quarterly frequency, there has been an observed change in reporting behaviour with respect to the inclusion of bulk wine sales in container type 'All other containers'. A resolution was not reached in time for the September 2009 quarter release and as such users should view the data corresponding to container type 'All other containers' with caution. Revisions to this data may be applied in subsequent releases.

Further information on domestic sales and imports data is available by downloading the time-series (original) spreadsheets:
  • 1. Domestic Sales of Australian Wine, by container type
  • 2. Domestic Sales of Australian Wine and Brandy by Winemakers
  • 3. Domestic Sales of Australian Fortified Wine by Winemakers
  • 4. Imports cleared, by wine type
  • 5. Imports cleared, by selected countries
