NOVEMBER KEY POINTS


SHORT-TERM VISITOR ARRIVALS
  • Trend estimates: Short-term visitor arrivals to Australia during November 2010 (508,000 movements) increased 0.5% compared with October 2010 (505,600 movements). This followed monthly increases of 1.1% in September 2010 and 0.8% in October 2010. The current trend estimate for arrivals is 5.8% higher than in November 2009.
  • Seasonally adjusted estimates: During November 2010, short-term visitor arrivals (504,800 movements) recorded an increase of 1.1% compared with October 2010 (499,200 movements). This followed a monthly increase of 1.0% for September 2010 and a monthly decrease of 2.1% for October 2010.
  • Original estimates: There were 517,100 short-term visitor arrivals to Australia in November 2010.


SHORT-TERM RESIDENT DEPARTURES
  • Trend estimates: Short-term resident departures from Australia during November 2010 (602,400 movements) decreased marginally compared with October 2010 (603,000 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.2% for September 2010 and 0.1% for October 2010. The current trend estimate for departures is 9.3% higher than in November 2009.
  • Seasonally adjusted estimates: During November 2010, short-term resident departures (602,100 movements) increased by 0.7% compared with October 2010 (597,700 movements). This followed a monthly increase of 1.8% for September 2010 and a decrease of 1.3% for October 2010.
  • Original estimates: There were 552,100 short-term resident departures from Australia during November 2010.
