TREND ESTIMATES

  • The trend estimate for beef production rose for the sixth consecutive month, to 185,600 tonnes. This was the highest figure recorded since records began in July 1979.
  • The trend estimate for lamb slaughterings rose for the tenth consecutive month, to 1.6 million. This was the highest figure recorded since October 2000.
  • The trend estimate for sheep slaughterings rose for the seventh consecutive month, to 1.0 million. This was the highest figure recorded since February 2003.
  • The trend estimate for cattle slaughterings rose for the fifth consecutive month, to 690,800. This was the highest figure recorded since December 2002.
  • The trend estimate for pig slaughterings fell for the third consecutive month, to 441,700. This was the lowest figure recorded since September 2001.
