OCTOBER KEY POINTS

TREND ESTIMATES

  • The trend estimate for sheep slaughterings fell for the fifth consecutive month, to 859,300. This was the lowest figure recorded since December last year.
  • The trend estimate for pig slaughterings fell for the seventh consecutive month, to 443,400. This was the lowest figure recorded since October 2001.
  • The trend estimate for pig meat production fell for the seventh consecutive month, to 32,100 tonnes. This was the lowest figure recorded since July 2001.
