DATA NOTES

There have been recent changes to the Harmonised Tariff Item Statistical Codes (HTISC) as of 1 January 2012. As a result of these changes the amount of data available for imports has decreased. For more information about the HTISC changes affecting this publication see Chapter 22 - Beverages, spirits and vinegar in the Combined Australian Customs Tariff Nomenclature and Statistical Classification available at the Australian Customs and Boarder Protective Service website: http://www.customs.gov.au, or refer to Information paper: Changes to AHECC and Customs Tariff, 2012 (cat. no. 5368.0.55.017).

Another change implemented this quarter is an increase in coverage. An additional 16 providers have been added to the survey for the March 2012 quarter.

A significant change was observed in the reporting of bulk wine sales between the June 2009 quarter and September 2009 quarter; however, the total impact is unquantifiable. Users should view quarterly movements during this period with caution.

From the September quarter 2009, data relating to the export of Australian produced wine is no longer included in this publication. Information regarding export data can be obtained by contacting the National Information and Referral Service on 1300 135 070.

Due to the seasonal nature of the data, quarterly movements are no longer included in commentary.

Further information on domestic sales and imports data is available by downloading the time-series (original) spreadsheets:
