SEPTEMBER KEY POINTS


QUARTERLY ESTIMATES
  • For the September quarter 2010, there were 72 disputes, 16 more than in the June quarter 2010.
  • The number of employees involved in industrial disputes in the September quarter 2010 was 16,000, an increase from 13,900 in the June quarter 2010.
  • There were 46,600 working days lost due to industrial disputation in the September quarter 2010, an increase from 24,000 in the June quarter 2010.
  • The Coal mining industry accounted for 20,800 (45%) of the total number of working days lost in the September quarter 2010. The Coal mining industry also had the highest number of working days lost per thousand employees (466.3) for the quarter.
  • In the September quarter 2010, New South Wales accounted for 19,400 (42%) of working days lost. New South Wales also had the highest number of working days lost per thousand employees (6.3) for the quarter.


YEAR ENDED ESTIMATES
  • During the year ended September 2010, there were 233 disputes, 26 more than in the year ended September 2009.
  • During the year ended September 2010, there were 144,100 working days lost compared with 119,100 in the year ended September 2009.
