JUNE KEY POINTS


ORIGINAL ESTIMATES
  • In original terms, the June 2009 merchandise imports were $15,671m, an increase of $943m (6%) on the revised May 2009 merchandise imports of $14,728m.


PRELIMINARY BALANCE OF PAYMENTS GOODS IMPORTS
  • Preliminary analysis shows that goods imports (debits) on a balance of payments basis decreased by $14m in seasonally adjusted terms from $16,289m in May 2009 to $16,275m in June 2009. Other goods fell $502m (48%) with non-monetary gold down $336m (45%) and goods for processing down $170m. Intermediate and other merchandise goods rose $247m (4%) with fuels and lubricants up $234m (13%), consumption goods rose $207m (4%) with non-industrial transport equipment up $220m (26%), and capital goods rose $35m (1%).
