In seasonally adjusted terms, September quarter 2009 had a 0.4% decrease in volumes and a 0.2% decrease in prices.
In September quarter 2009, Household goods retailing (-2.1%), Clothing footwear and other personal accessory retailing (-3.5%) and Department stores (-3.8%) had a decrease in seasonally adjusted volumes. Food retailing (+0.9%) and Cafes, restaurants and takeaway food services (+1.7%) had an increase in volumes. Other retailing had no change in volumes in September 2009.
The states with a decrease in seasonally adjusted volumes in the September quarter 2009 were New South Wales (-0.1%), Queensland (-1.5%), South Australia (-1.6%), Tasmania (-0.6%) and the Northern Territory (-0.2%). Victoria and Western Australia (both +0.2%) and the Australian Capital Territory (+0.1%) had an increase in volumes.
