Revisions to Labour Force Estimates

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) today released its annual revision of employment and unemployment statistics following a re-analysis of seasonal factors.

The ABS conducts an annual re-analysis of the factors that affect seasonally adjusted and trend estimates to incorporate the most recent 12 months of labour force data. The re-analysis covers the period from February 1978 to January 2001.

The following table shows the previously published and the revised seasonally adjusted estimates of employed persons and the unemployment rate for the period January 2000 to January 2001.
