AGGREGATE MONTHLY HOURS WORKED TREND ESTIMATES


FULL TIME

The trend estimate of aggregate monthly hours worked by full time workers generally rose from 1,165 million hours in August 2002 to 1,354 million hours in August 2008. The trend then fell to 1,314 million hours in July 2009, before rising to 1,389 million hours in September 2011. The trend has since generally fallen to 1,378 million hours in August 2012.

PART TIME

The trend estimate of aggregate monthly hours worked by part time workers rose from 180 million hours in August 2002 to 188 million hours in March 2003. The trend then fell to 187 million hours in August 2003 before generally rising to 242 million hours in August 2012.

TOTAL

The trend estimates of total aggregate monthly hours worked generally rose from 1,345 million hours in August 2002 to 1,573 million hours in August 2008 before falling to 1,540 million hours in June 2009. The trend has since risen to 1,620 million hours in August 2012.
