EMPLOYED PERSONS

The trend estimate of employed persons rose from 9,311,600 in September 2002 to 10,921,300 in October 2008. The trend then fell to 10,917,900 in January 2009 before generally rising to 11,506,900 in September 2012.

UNEMPLOYED PERSONS

The trend estimate of unemployed persons generally fell from 621,000 in September 2002 to 468,500 in March 2008. The trend then rose to 674,300 in June 2009 before falling to 597,400 in March 2011. The trend has since generally risen to 645,600 in September 2012.

PARTICIPATION RATE

The trend estimate of the participation rate for persons rose from 63.4% in September 2002 to 63.8% in February 2003. The trend then fell to 63.3% in March 2004 before generally rising to 65.9% in December 2010. The trend has since generally fallen to 65.2% in September 2012.
