5368.0.55.006 - Number and Characteristics of Australian Exporters, 2006-07

ABS has released a series of feature articles on the number and characteristics of Australian exporters in conjunction with the monthly publication International Trade in Goods and Services (Cat no. 5368.0). These articles relate to the 2000-01 to 2003-04 financial years.

A related feature article detailing a new methodology for deriving the counts of Australian exporters was issued on 7 April 2006.

This publication provides an analysis of the number and characteristics of Australia's exporters. Estimates on exporters of merchandise trade are compiled from data sourced from the Australian Customs Service (Customs) and from the Australian Taxation Office's (ATO) Australian Business Register. Estimates on exporters of services are compiled largely from the ABS Survey of International Trade in Services (SITS).
