ARTICLES

  • The Perspectives on Migrants (cat. no. 3416.0) series provides informed commentary to assist those interested in issues related to migrant and ethnic population groups within Australia. Released twice yearly, the latest edition contains three descriptive articles with a common theme – the population characteristics of overseas-born migrants by selected region of birth:
    • People born in China and India;
    • People born in Africa; and
    • People born in the Middle East.
  • Social Participation of Migrants in Australian Social Trends, 2008 (cat. no. 4102.0) examines several areas of social participation in the context of whether migrants came from main English-speaking countries or other countries. The areas of social participation include friendships, informal social activities, organised social groups, sporting activities, attendance at cultural venues, voluntary work and labour force participation.
  • The feature article Migration and Mobility in Western Australia in Western Australian Statistical Indicators, Jun 2008 (cat. no. 1367.5) provides information on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of people who moved to Western Australia between 2001 and 2006.
  • SA Stats, Apr 2008 (cat. no. 1345.4) contains an article South Australia's Migrant Population, which uses Census of Population and Housing data and settler arrivals statistics from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to show changes in the proportion of the South Australian population who were born overseas. Information is also provided on the age profile of migrants, overseas migration and interstate migration.
