Data is based on the 2011 Census of Population and Housing and 2014 and 2015 estimated resident population (ERP).

For more information about Census data items see Census Dictionary, 2011 (cat. no. 2901.0). For more information about population statistics from ERP, see Australian Demographic Statistics, Sep 2015 (cat. no. 3101.0) and Population FAQs.

GEOGRAPHICAL BOUNDARIES

The 2016 Commonwealth Electoral Division boundaries used in creation of the maps were sourced from the Australian Electoral Commission as GIS boundaries. Refer to the Australian Electoral Commission for the copyright and licence conditions, and any further information. The provided maps may differ from other Australian Electoral Commission sources due to the increased detail available in the GIS boundaries.

ABS data for the 2016 Commonwealth Electoral Divisions is based on an approximation of the boundaries, using the 2011 Australian Statistical Geography Standard (Statistical Areas Level 1). For further information about the Australian Statistical Geography Standard, refer to ABS Geography.

OTHER TERRITORIES

Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands are included in the electoral division of Lingiari (Northern Territory).

Jervis Bay Territory is included in the electoral division of Fenner (Australian Capital Territory).
