To collect attitudinal and behavioural data from households and individuals relating to the environment.
The survey provides data on transport (including public transport) and motor vehicle usage by households.
Method of collection
The survey is run as a supplement to the Monthly Population Survey. The MPS is a sample of private dwellings and non-private dwellings (hotels, motels, etc.). The proportion of Australian dwellings selected this way is approximately 0.5%. For this survey, half the private dwelling sample (i.e. 15,500 dwellings) are used.
