INTRODUCTION

This chapter presents state and territory statistics about incidents of victimisation for a selected range of offences that came to the attention of state and territory police. The statistics are produced from information recorded in police crime recording systems during the period 1 January 2012 to 31 December 2012. The statistics provide information about the characteristics of the victim and the nature of the criminal incidents.

Data for assault are not comparable across jurisdictions and therefore are not presented in this chapter. For information about assault, refer to the Victims of assault, states and territories chapter of this publication.

The data in this chapter are drawn from Data Cubes 3-6.
