OVERVIEW
This was a survey conducted as a supplement to the October 1998 Monthly Population Survey. Information was collected from households in 3,300 private dwellings throughout WA by either face-to-face or telephone interview.
PURPOSE
The objectives of this survey were to determine:
- the relative importance of factors influencing the choice of type and location of current dwelling;
- the importance of factors relating to accessibility of social and physical infrastructure;
- the intentions of households regarding the location and dwelling type of their next home; and
- the extent that dwelling energy-efficiency features contributed to choice of dwelling.
SCOPE
1998 Household Motivations and Intentions Survey
Scope: WA civilian population aged 15 and over (in private dwellings only)
Coverage: Standard Labour Force coverage rules.
The following are exclusions on coverage for the labour force:
- visitors to the household
- members of the permanent defence forces;
- certain diplomatic personnel of overseas governments, customarily excluded from census and estimated populations;
- overseas residents in Australia; and
- members of non-Australian defence forces (and their dependants) stationed in Australia.
