TREND ESTIMATES
  • In May there were 1,662,300 public sector employees. There were 230,800 employees in Commonwealth government, 1,262,000 in state government and 169,500 in local government.


NOTES


FINAL ISSUE

The quarterly Survey of Employment and Earnings - Public Sector is being replaced with an annual survey, commencing with the 2007-08 reference year. As a result this issue is the final quarterly issue of Wage and Salary Earners, Public Sector, Australia. Data from the 2007-08 survey are expected to be released in January 2009.



REVISIONS

Revisions have been made to previously published data for September quarter 2004 to March quarter 2007 inclusive, as a result of correcting errors in the level of government classification for several organisations. The revisions affect Commonwealth and State level of government estimates for Victoria, Australia and the Cultural and recreational services industry.
