Communication and information technology presents information on the characteristics and performance of industries involved in the production of information and communications technology goods and services. It also provides statistics on Internet activity in Australia and the use of information technology by businesses, farms, households and government organisations.

The communication services industry has been one of the fastest growing industries in Australia. In 2001-02, the communication services industry contributed nearly 3% to Australia's gross domestic product.
