Updating ANZSCO

The Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations describes all occupations for Australia and New Zealand.

Latest update

Occupation level consultation has now concluded. A draft classification containing all proposed changes including structural changes will be published on the ABS website towards end of July 2024. Users of the classification will be able to provide feedback on the complete set of proposed changes via the ABS Consultation Hub.

We would like to extend our appreciation for your valuable input. These changes reflect the collaborative efforts and insights provided by users, ensuring that the classification accurately represents a modern Australian labour market. 

Coming up

During 2023, three public consultation rounds were held, with over 600 submissions received across 43 focus area topics. A review of all proposed occupational changes for the three consultation rounds is in the final stages and will be released for information in June.

Proposed occupation changes from rounds 1, 2 and 3 will be released in June 2024. The updated classification will be released in December 2024.
