  • unemployed people increased by 6,300 to 649,600.
  • youth unemployment rate increased to 9.8%.

Employment

In trend terms, in July 2025, employment increased by 24,600 people (0.2%) to 14,659,300 people. 

Flows into and out of employment

Full-time and part-time employment

In trend terms, in July 2025:

  • full-time employment increased by 23,400 to 10,125,200 people, and part-time employment increased by 1,300 to 4,534,100 people.
  • part-time share of employment was 30.9%.

 

Employment-to-population ratio

In trend terms, in July 2025, the employment-to-population ratio remained at 64.2%.

The employment-to-population ratio provides a measure of employment relative to the size of the population.

  • increased to 67.1%.
  • remained at 70.8% for men and increased to 63.5% for women.
