WHEAT GRAIN COMMITTED
In January 2010, there were 4.9 million tonnes of wheat grain committed for domestic use or export, an increase of 1.8 million tonnes from December 2009.
Of the total committed, 3.3 million tonnes were contracted for export and 1.7 million tonnes for domestic use. All states reported increased export commitments from December 2009, with Western Australia reporting the largest increase since December 2009.
Compared to January 2009, the total wheat grain contracted for export was 1% lower, but wheat grain contracted for domestic use showed a 26% increase.
