ABOUT THIS RELEASE
This publication presents a range of statistics relating to child care arrangements made by persons responsible for children under twelve years of age. The statistics were derived from a survey conducted throughout Australia in June 1987 to obtain information on, among other things:
(a) use, and reason for use, of child care services by both children and families;
(b) use of both formal and informal child care arrangements;
(c) demand for formal care by both existing formal care users and those not currently using formal care services;
(d) demographic and socio-economic characteristics of those that do, and do not, make use of formal and informal child care services.
