The Australian Government Data Graduate Stream recruitment is a centrally coordinated process co-led by the Australian Public Service Commission and the ABS. The Data Graduate Stream recruitment allows graduates to apply once and be considered for data graduate roles in a number of departments and agencies.

The Data Graduate Stream recruitment is for you if you want to work in a career that specialises in data. As a Data Graduate you may work in data analysis, research, data acquisition, data engineering or more specialised roles in data science, methodology or geospatial analysis.

Data Graduate roles support evidence based informed decision making, working across all aspects of government such as policy development, program management and service delivery.

Roles will be available in all capital cities, Geelong and Newcastle, though most will be based in Canberra. Capital city roles may be located outside of the CBD.

A range of undergraduate and post graduate degrees are considered including data analytics/science, economics, econometrics, actuarial studies, maths, social science, psychology, statistics, finance, business, policy and arts.


  • have completed, or expect to complete, a minimum qualification of a three year bachelor degree (recognised in Australia) within the period 01/01/2017 to 31/12/2021
  • be an Australian citizen by 30 June 2021
  • be available to commence the formal program in February 2022.
  • provide a copy of your latest academic transcript.
