How to register as a new user
Tutorial transcript 1Welcome to 2011 Census DataPacks.In this tutorial you will learn how to become a registered user so that you can download DataPacks from the Census website. Starting from the ABS homepage, click on the Census link located on the menu at the top of the page. This will bring you to the Census home page. To become a registered user for DataPacks, click on the Data & Analysis plus sign, and then click on DataPacks. Alternatively, you can click on the DataPacks link located in the body of the homepage. Now click on the Register link below the Login button. This will open the 2011 Census Product registration page. Proceed to fill in your details starting with your email address. Fields with a red asterisk must be completed. When deciding upon a password, you’ll need to make sure that it meets the requirements listed at the side of the page. Now enter your name and organisation if applicable. Please provide at least one contact phone number. Continue by completing the address fields. Answering one of the secret questions will help us to re-issue you with a password should you happen to forget it. Be sure to read through the terms and conditions located here before you click on Submit. You will now be sent an account activation email. If the email stated is not correct, you may re-register. If you have any other questions you can contact client services at the email address and phone number provided here. Upon receiving the Account Activation email, click here. You can now Login to your Census Profile Summary Page with the User ID provided in the account activation email as well as the password that you created earlier. This will bring you to your profile summary page where you can now add the DataPack product. To do so, click on the add a product tab. For simplicity, and given that DataPacks is a free product, I’ll be choosing the individual licence. Now click on submit. We obviously want the DataPacks online 2011 product. Now click next. You’ll now be presented with the terms and conditions for DataPacks. Be sure to read them before you click on the acceptance box. If you’re happy with them, click next again. Click on subscribe to finalise your request for DataPacks. Your profile summary should now include DataPacks as an approved product. To login to the DataPacks product, return to the census homepage. Navigate to the DataPacks product once again, and this time, click on the login button. Now enter your user id and password to login. Information about the downloadable content will be available in subsequent tutorials. Tutorial 1 is now complete. |
