Mid consultation update – Review of 2021 Census Topics

Since April 2018, the ABS has invited people who use Census data to provide their views on the most useful information to collect in the 2021 Census.

The public consultation period for the review of the information to collect in the 2021 Census will close on 30 June 2018.

Many data users are currently developing submissions on why they consider their data needs are of national importance and need to be tracked overtime.

"Nearly 120 submissions have been received to date. Key areas of interest from the community to date have been regarding the Census collection of information on Occupation, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples, Religion and Gender." said Caroline Deans, Director, 2021 Census Content Review.

"As we move towards the mid-point for the process, we look forward to receiving more insightful submissions from key data users, our Government partners and peak bodies."

There is a video briefing available about the review of the 2021 Census topics and how members of the community can participate in this important process - informing Australia's important decisions.

Submissions can be lodged via the ABS consultation hub until 30 June 2018. For more information via www.abs.gov.au/census-consult
