Join the ABS fun run to raise funds for cancer

JOIN THE ABS FUN RUN TO RAISE FUNDS FOR CANCER


What:The ABS is holding its annual Fun Run to raise funds for the ACT Cancer Council.
Where:Around lake Ginninderra, starting and finishing at John Knight Park, adjacent to Lake Ginninderra College.
Why:Great prizes for participants through the barrel draw. All proceeds donated to the ACT Cancer Council and a great afternoon walk, jog or run.
Who:All invited to participate and help the ACT Cancer Council. Cost is $5 adults, $2 children.
When:This Thursday 27 May, starting 12:30pm with a barrel draw for prizes shortly after 1:30pm.

Background:

The Australian Bureau of Statistics is calling for the Canberra community to join them in supporting the ACT Cancer Council by taking part in this year's annual ABS Fun Run, being run around Lake Ginninderra, at 12:30pm on this Thursday 27 May 2004.

Participants are invited to walk or run the 7.3 km course around the cyclepaths of Lake Ginninderra's parkland, with the start/finish line at John Knight Park, adjacent to Lake Ginninderra College. This year there is a shorter 6.2 km course for nominated walkers.

Incorporating the Castles Shield Fun Run, trophies will be awarded for both individual and team efforts.

Cost to enter the run is $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for children. Entry forms are available on the Internet at <http://www.tip.net.au/~dfry/ABSFUNRUN.htm>. Alternatively, forms can be obtained from ABS reception at ABS House, Benjamin Way Belconnen, or by contacting Rod Campbell on 6252 6139 or email <rod.campbell@abs.gov.au>.

The run has attracted a wide range of sponsors and all participants will have an equal chance to win barrel draw prizes. The major sponsor is Westfield Belconnen.
