ABS tourism statistics online through new electronic bookshop

CRC Tourism today launched a service that will see a range of ABS publications distributed through its online bookshop.
The online bookshop, launched in Queanbeyan today by CRC Tourism Chairman Sir Frank Moore, is cutting edge in that books will only be distributed in electronic form. Users will be able to log onto the bookshop, locate the publications they need, purchase them and immediately download the files, eliminating the need to wait for a hard copy to be sent out. The bookshop will feature ABS publications that specifically relate to the tourism industry, helping the CRC provide research and data for an ever expanding tourism industry.

The ABS was pleased to enter into a distribution arrangement to allow CRC access to its publications in electronic form for this project.

"The bookshop will serve as a model for the electronic dissemination of research information," Sir Frank Moore said at this morning's launch.

"CRC Tourism would like to thank the Australian Bureau of Statistics for its co-operation in undertaking this project."

This arrangement is another example of the ABS policy of providing quality statistics and promoting informed decision making, research and discussion within all areas of the community.
