OVERVIEW
Requested by the Queensland Department of Tourism, Sport and Racing.

PURPOSE
Information collected to be used to revise policies and to develop strategic directions for the department. Information also required to service the growing demand for data about sporting/physical recreation participation from the sporting and general community.

SCOPE
Usual residents of private dwellings (including caravans) are in scope for the survey.

Conceptual framework
Target population is all usual residents aged 15 years and over who live in private dwellings in Queensland.

Principal data items are:

• Types of sports/physical recreational activities participated in during last 12 months;
• Level of involvement;
• Frequency of participation, cost and when;
• Club membership and cost;
• Expenditure on clothing and equipment for sport/activity;
• Unmet demand for sporting/physical recreational activities involvement and reasons why;
• Highest educational qualifications.
