NOVEMBER KEY POINTS

SHORT-TERM VISITOR ARRIVALS TO AUSTRALIA
  • Trend estimates: Short-term visitor arrivals during November 2017 (759,100 movements) increased 0.4% compared with October 2017 (755,900 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.5% in September 2017 and 0.4% in October 2017. The current trend estimate for arrivals is 7.2% higher than in November 2016.
  • Seasonally adjusted estimates: During November 2017, short-term visitor arrivals (760,300 movements) increased 0.4% compared with October 2017 (757,400 movements). This followed a monthly decrease of 2.3% in September 2017 and a monthly increase of 1.8% in October 2017.
  • Original estimates: There were 776,900 short-term visitor arrivals to Australia in November 2017.


SHORT-TERM RESIDENT RETURNS TO AUSTRALIA
  • Trend estimates: Short-term resident returns during November 2017 (889,500 movements) increased 0.3% compared with October 2017 (887,000 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.2% in both September 2017 and October 2017. The current trend estimate for returns is 4.7% higher than in November 2016.
  • Seasonally adjusted estimates: During November 2017, short-term resident returns (892,000 movements) increased 0.4% compared with October 2017 (888,500 movements). This followed a monthly increase of 1.4% in September 2017 and a monthly decrease of 0.3% in October 2017.
  • Original estimates: There were 772,900 short-term resident returns to Australia in November 2017.
