JUNE KEY POINTS


SHORT-TERM VISITOR ARRIVALS TO AUSTRALIA
  • Trend estimates: Short-term visitor arrivals during June 2012 (508,900 movements) increased compared with May 2012 (507,300 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.3% in April 2012 and 0.3% in May 2012. The current trend estimate for arrivals is 5.0% higher than in June 2011.
  • Seasonally adjusted estimates: During June 2012, short-term visitor arrivals (515,100 movements) recorded an increase of 3.3% compared with May 2012 (498,400 movements). This followed monthly decreases of 0.9% in April 2012 and 1.6% in May 2012.
  • Original estimates: There were 420,800 short-term visitor arrivals to Australia in June 2012.


SHORT-TERM RESIDENT DEPARTURES FROM AUSTRALIA
  • Trend estimates: Short-term resident departures during June 2012 (688,300 movements) increased 0.6% compared with May 2012 (684,000 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.9% in April 2012 and 0.8% in May 2012. The current trend estimate for departures is 5.2% higher than in June 2011.
  • Seasonally adjusted estimates: During June 2012, short-term resident departures (691,300 movements) increased 1.0% compared with May 2012 (684,200 movements). This followed a monthly decrease of 0.03% in April 2012 and an increase of 1.0% in May 2012.
  • Original estimates: There were 799,200 short-term resident departures from Australia during June 2012.
