INTRODUCTION
Statistics in this chapter relate to the electricity supply industry as defined by the Australian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification (ANZSIC), 2006 edition. ANZSIC defines the electricity supply industry as consisting of those businesses mainly engaged in electricity generation and/or transmission and/or distribution and/or the on-selling of electricity via power distribution systems operated by others.
The data presented include all activities of the businesses classified to this industry, some of which may be activities other than electricity supply. (See Explanatory Notes paragraphs 13-22 for further details.)
The commentary refers mainly to the tables in this chapter, and to the tables in Chapter 1, preceded by some industry background material.
