WHEAT GRAIN COMMITTED

In July 2011, wheat grain committed for domestic use or export fell to 4.7 million tonnes, a 7% decrease from June 2011. However, this was an increase of 242 thousand tonnes from July 2010.

Of the total wheat grain committed, 3.7 million tonnes were contracted for export. In July 2011, all states reported decreased export commitments from June 2011, except Western Australia which reported a slight increase, up by 100 thousand tonnes. As in June 2011, South Australia and Western Australia again had the highest total commitments with 1.1 million tonnes and 1.0 million tonnes respectively in July 2011.

Compared to June 2011, wheat grain committed for domestic use remained steady at 1.0 million tonnes in July 2011. This compares to a total of 781 thousand tonnes in July 2010.
