SUMMARY OF SELECTED ABS RELEASES This information paper describes changes that will be made to Australian export and import goods statistics classified by industry. These changes will result from the implementation of the 2006 update to the Australian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification (ANZSIC). The survey provides details of venture capital and later stage private equity activity from venture capital and later stage private equity fund managers. The information includes in broad terms fund commitments and drawdowns by source of funds, assets and liabilities of the venture capital and later stage private equity funds, financing flows between the funds and their investors and investee companies and the stage and industry characteristics of venture capital deals undertaken during the latest financial year.Persons with Main Source of Income from Own Unincorporated Business, Estimates for Small Areas - Data Cubes, 2004-05 to 2005-06 (cat. no. 6225.0.55.001) These data are estimates of the number of persons whose main or principal source of income comes from their Own unincorporated business(es) for the financial years 2004-05 and 2005-06. The data includes estimates of: the number of persons by sex; the income those persons received from Own unincorporated business(es); and the total income those persons received from all sources. These data have been compiled from the Australian Taxation Office's Individual Income Tax Return DatabaseEmployment and Earnings, Public Sector, Australia, 2007-08 (cat. no. 6248.0.55.002) Contains estimates of number of public sector employees and gross earnings by level of government by state. Also contains estimates of number of public sector employees and gross earnings by industry for Australia.Information Paper: Regional Labour Force Statistics, February 2009 (cat. no. 6262.0) This paper describes changes to become effective in February 2009 to a number of the existing regions used in the dissemination of labour force statistics derived from the monthly Labour Force Survey (LFS). The paper also provides general information on the availability of labour force statistics for those dissemination regions.Estimates of Personal Income for Small Areas, 2001-02 to 2005-06 (cat. no. 6524.0.55.002) This release contains data cubes (excel spreadsheets) containing estimates of the sources and amount of personal income people received for the years 2001-02 to 2005-06, for Statistical Local Areas and other geographies (LGA, SSD, SD, State/Territory and Australia). The estimates have been compiled using aggregated individual income tax data from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). The datacubes provide a breakdown of personal income by the following sources - wage & salary, own unincorporated business, investment, superannuation and annuities, other income (excluding government pensions and allowances) and total income (excluding government pensions and allowances).Motor Vehicle Census, Australia, 31 Mar 2008 (cat. no. 9309.0) This publication presents statistics relating to vehicles which were registered at 31 March 2008 with a motor vehicle registration authority. Motor vehicle registration statistics are compiled from data made available by various state and territory motor vehicle registration authorities and reflect the information as recorded in registration documents. Environmental Releases Water Use on Australian Farms, 2006-07 (Additional Data Cubes for selected NRM region data) (cat. no. 4618.0) Data in these tables supplements that in Water Use on Australian Farms 2006-07 released in August 2008. The additional datacubes present selected data at Natural Resource Management (NRM) region geographies. Data on major pastures and crops irrigated, sources of agricultural water by volume, irrigation methods by area irrigated, value of irrigation equipment and infrastructure, and total irrigation expenditure is presented for NRM regions. ABS Agriculture Statistics Collection Strategy - 2008-09 and beyond, 2009-10 (cat. no. 7105.0) This information paper is the first in a series of three papers. It outlines proposed changes to the ABS Agricultural Survey program aimed at improving the statistical information base relevant to agriculture and natural resource management statistics as they relate to agriculture. Social Releases Population by Age and Sex, Australian States and Territories, Jun 2008 (cat. no. 3201.0) This issue contains estimates of the resident population of Australian states and territories as at 30 June of each reference year. Estimates up to 2006 are final, based on the results of the 2006 Census of Population and Housing. Estimates from 2007 onwards are preliminary. As part of the scheduled revision cycle for estimated resident population, revised figures for 2006-2007 will be released on 19 March 2009. Data released in Population by Age and Sex, Jun 2007, Jun 2002-2007 and Jun 2008 (cat. no. 3201.0) time series and data cubes will be updated to reflect this.Migrant Data Matrices, 2008 (cat. no. 3415.0) The Migrant Data Matrices provide users with links to data on migrants from a range of ABS products. Data include a broad selection of demographic, geographic, socio-economic and survey specific items. The data items included are not exhaustive but rather provide a selection of the data available from a collection.Schools, Australia, Preliminary, 2008 (cat. no. 4220.0) This release contains a summary of state, territory and national data for the broad categories of schools, students and staff at the 2008 school census date of the 1st August. More detailed data, including derived participation and progression measures, will be published in the Final publication, due out in March 2009, and the detailed Data Cubes and spreadsheets subsequently published on the ABS website.National Survey of Mental Health and Wellbeing: Users' Guide, 2007 (cat. no. 4327.0) This publication presents detailed information on the design and contents of the 2007 National Survey of Mental Health and Wellbeing (SMHWB).Information Paper: Producing national estimates from State Health surveys, 2004 (cat. no. 4375.0.55.001) This publication reports on the trial conducted by the ABS of pooling data from different health surveys conducted in individual States and Territories in order to create national estimates. It provides a background to the project, outlines the methods involved in pooling and diagnostics on the pooled dataset, and reports the national estimates, along with data from the NHS for comparison.Criminal Courts, Australia, 2007-08 (cat. no. 4513.0) Provides nationally comparable data showing the number of defendants dealt with by the Higher (Supreme and Intermediate), Magistrates' and Children's criminal courts. Includes details on the characteristics of defendants (such as age and sex), and outcomes associated with adjudicated defendants (including sentence type) by the type of principal offence committed. Information is presented for each state and territory (including the aggregate total for Australia) and for each of the three court levels.
