At 30 June 2002, the Victorian sheep and lamb flock stood at 21.3 million. The highest concentrations were found in the Western District, Wimmera and Central Highlands Statistical Divisions (SD).

In 2001-02, most sheep and lambs in Victoria were found in Western District SD (6.2 million). This was followed by Wimmera SD with 3.4 million and Central Highlands SD with 3.0 million.
