Latest New Motor Vehicle Sales Data The trend estimate for sales of new motor vehicles increased 0.6% to 82,253 in November 2004. When compared with November 2003 (77,701) the trend estimate has shown an increase of 5.9%. Sales of passenger vehicles recorded an increase of 0.9% over the last month while sales of sports utility vehicles increased 0.2% and other vehicles increased 0.3%. The trend estimate for sales of sports utility vehicles has been increasing continually since September 2003, recording a total increase of 20.4% since this time. All states and territories recorded increases in the trend estimate for sales of new motor vehicles in November 2004 with the exception of Queensland which recorded a decrease of 0.5%. The seasonally adjusted estimate for sales of new motor vehicles decreased 3.1% to 81,234 in November 2004. Passenger vehicle sales decreased 2.9%, sales of sports utility vehicles decreased 2.2% and sales of other new vehicles decreased 4.9% in November 2004 compared to October 2004. Western Australia was the only state or territory to record an increase (up 2.1%) in the seasonally adjusted estimate for the sales of new motor vehicles. SALES OF NEW MOTOR VEHICLES, November 2004
