At 30 June 2005, there were 21,300 people employed in the manufacturing industry in Tasmania. This figure has remained almost unchanged over the four year period from July 2001.

In 2004-05, total wages and salaries paid in the manufacturing industry in Tasmania was $901m, an increase of $11m (1.2%) on the $890m paid in 2003-04.

Total sales and service income for manufacturing management units in 2004-05 was $6,239m, an increase of $553m (9.7%) on the $5,686m recorded in 2003-04. Sales and service income per person employed was $293,400 in 2004-05.
