DWELLING UNITS APPROVED STATES AND TERRITORIES
SUMMARY COMMENTS
The trend estimate for total dwellings approved fell 1.6% in June 2011. The trend fell in New South Wales (-4.3%), Victoria (-2.0%), Western Australia (-1.0%), Tasmania (-0.6%), Queensland (-0.4%) and South Australia (-0.2%) while the Australian Capital Territory (5.2%) and the Northern Territory (2.1%) both rose. In seasonally adjusted terms the estimate of total dwellings approved fell 3.5% with Queensland (-18.6%), South Australia (-12.2%), Tasmania (-8.1%) and Western Australia (-3.0%) recording decreases while Victoria (6.9%) and New South Wales (3.2%) recorded rises.
The trend estimate for private sector houses approved fell 1.0% this month. Of the published states Victoria (-1.6%), New South Wales (-1.5%) and Western Australia (-0.1%) fell while South Australia (1.1%) and Queensland (0.3%) rose.
