The trend estimate for total number of dwelling units approved rose 1.9% in January 2010. The trend rose in states and territories other than Tasmania (-1.6%) and the Australian Capital Territory (-4.1%).

The trend estimate for private sector houses approved rose 0.6% this month. The largest rise was in Western Australia (+1.2%) while New South Wales (-0.2%) fell.
