The chart below shows the trend series and seasonally adjusted series to February 2019.

In current prices, the trend estimate for Australian turnover rose 0.2% in February 2019, following a rise of 0.2% in January 2019, and a rise of 0.2% in December 2018.

The seasonally adjusted estimate for Australian turnover rose 0.8% in February 2019, following a rise of 0.1% in January 2019, and a fall of 0.4% in December 2018.

The original estimate for Australian turnover fell 10.1% in February 2019. The original estimate for chains and other larger retailers fell 11.6% in February 2019. The original estimate for smaller retailers fell 6.5% in February 2019.

TOTAL RETAIL - BY STATE

The following states and territories rose in trend terms in February 2019: New South Wales (0.2%), Queensland (0.3%), Victoria (0.2%), Western Australia (0.3%), and the Australian Capital Territory (0.1%). South Australia (0.0%) was relatively unchanged. Tasmania (-0.2%), and the Northern Territory (-0.2%) fell in trend terms in February 2019.

The following states and territories rose in seasonally adjusted terms in February 2019: Queensland (1.4%), New South Wales (0.6%), Victoria (0.8%), Western Australia (0.6%), South Australia (0.7%), the Australian Capital Territory (1.7%), and the Northern Territory (1.4%). Tasmania (-0.7%) fell in seasonally adjusted terms in February 2019.
