The chart below shows the trend series and seasonally adjusted series to February 2010.

In current price trend terms, Australian turnover increased 0.1% in February 2010 following increases of 0.2% in both January 2010 and December 2009.

Cafes, restaurants and takeaway food services (0.4%), Department stores (0.2%) and Household good retailing (0.1%) have had an increase in the trend for at least fourteen months. Other retailing (0.4%) had an increase for the fourth consecutive month in February 2010. Clothing, footwear & personal accessory retailing (-0.1%) decreased for the second consecutive month in February 2010.

The following states and territories have had an increase in the trend estimate for at least eight months: Western Australia (0.6%), the Northern Territory (0.4%), the Australian Capital Territory (0.3%), Victoria (0.2%) and South Australia (0.1%). New South Wales (-0.1%), Queensland (-0.1%) and Tasmania (-0.1%) all decreased in February 2010.

In current price seasonally adjusted terms, Australian turnover decreased by 1.4% in February 2010 following an increase of 1.1% in January 2010 and a decrease of 0.8% in December 2009.

In current price original terms, chains and other large retailers decreased 15.1% in February 2010. The estimate for smaller retailers decreased 6.2% in February 2010.
