The chart below shows the trend series and seasonally adjusted series to August 2015.

In current prices, the trend estimate for Australian turnover rose 0.2% in August 2015 following a rise of 0.3% in July 2015 and a rise of 0.3% in June 2015.

The seasonally adjusted estimate for Australian turnover rose 0.4% in August 2015 following a fall of 0.1% in July 2015 and a rise of 0.6% in June 2015.

The original estimate for Australian turnover fell 0.8% in August 2015. The original estimate for chains and other larger retailers fell 1.4% in August 2015. The original estimate for smaller retailers rose 0.4% in August 2015.

TOTAL RETAIL - BY STATE

The following states and territories rose in trend terms in August 2015: New South Wales (0.4%), Victoria (0.3%), Western Australia (0.2%), Tasmania (0.1%) and the Australian Capital Territory (0.1%). Queensland (0.0%) and South Australia (0.0%) were relatively unchanged. The Northern Territory (-0.1%) fell in trend terms in August 2015.

In seasonally adjusted terms there were rises in Victoria (0.9%), New South Wales (0.5%), Western Australia (0.2%), South Australia (0.3%) and Tasmania (0.4%). There were falls in Queensland (-0.2%), the Northern Territory (-0.9%) and the Australian Capital Territory (-0.4%).
