GOVERNMENT HUMAN RESOURCES DEVOTED TO R&D

In 2014-15, human resources devoted to R&D by Australian government organisations totalled 14,715 person years of effort (PYE). Commonwealth government comprised 8,443 PYE (57%) of total PYE and State and territory government comprised 6,273 PYE (43%).

In 2014-15, government human resources devoted to R&D decreased 1,665 PYE (10%) from 16,381 PYE in 2012-13. The decrease was due to decreases in PYE for both Technicians, down 1,018 PYE (18%) and Researchers, down 674 PYE (8%).

Researchers remained the largest type of resource in 2014-15, accounting for 52% of total government human resources devoted to R&D.
