KEY POINTS

Gross value quarterly original movements for March 2017:
  • The gross value of sheep and lambs increased 7.2% to 972 million for the March 2017 quarter, following a 18.3% increase in the December 2016 quarter.
  • Conversely, after a 5.4% increase last quarter the gross value of cattle and calves decreased 4.9% in the March 2017 quarter, down to $2.7 billion.
  • After decreasing 2.7% last quarter, the gross value of pigs continued to decrease, dropping a further 3.9% to $346 million in the March 2017 quarter.
  • The gross value of poultry marginally increased (up 0.3%) in the March 2017 quarter to stand at $682 million, following a 1.2% increase in the previous December 2016 quarter.
