LABOUR FORCE PIVOT TABLES

As previously advised, after 12 months of publishing both Summary Record Database (SRD) (SuperTABLE) format, as well as Excel pivot table format, the August 2017 issue of Labour Force, Australia, Detailed - Electronic Delivery (cat. no. 6291.0.55.001) marks the first where data cubes are only published in Excel pivot table format.

Similarly, the ABS intends to discontinue the release of SRD products in the Labour Force, Australia, Detailed, Quarterly (cat. no. 6291.0.55.003) publication after the August 2017 release.

A similar transition of dual SRD and pivot table releases over 12 months will commence in late 2017 for the GM1 data cube in Labour Force, Australia (cat. no. 6202.0).

In March 2017, the ABS issued a new detailed pivot table titled, LM9 - Labour Force Status by Age (detailed), Greater Capital City and Rest of State (ASGS) and Sex, January 1991 onwards.

In this release (August 2017) the ABS includes a new detailed pivot table titled, EM6a - Employed persons by Hours actually worked in all jobs, Sex, Status in employment of main job, and State, January 1991 onwards.

The median data that were previously released in SRD data cubes have been converted to timeseries spreadsheets 14c, 14d, 14e and 16c, to reduce the complexity of pivot table products.

Pivot tables increase the accessibility of Labour Force data, as well as provide a long term replacement for the unsupported SRD format. The pivot table products reflect the design and utility of the previous SRD data cubes as closely as possible. In addition, the inclusion of a comma separated variable (CSV) source worksheet in each pivot table is expected to be of particular interest to people who undertake statistical analysis using a range of software.
