The trend estimate of males looking for full-time work generally decreased from 388,800 in September 1997 to 287,700 in July 2000, before increasing to 327,600 in October 2001. The trend has since generally fallen to stand at 174,900 in September 2007.

MALES AGED 15-19 YEARS

The trend estimate of males aged 15 to 19 years looking for full-time work generally fell from 49,000 in September 1997 to 34,000 in July 2000. After rising to 44,100 in September 2001, the trend fell to 35,400 in July 2002. The trend has since remained relatively stable and stands at 31,100 in September 2007.

MALES AGED 20 YEARS AND OVER

The trend estimate of males aged 20 years and over looking for full-time work generally fell from 339,800 in September 1997 to 253,600 in June 2000. The trend then rose to 283,800 in October 2001, before generally falling to stand at 143,700 in September 2007.

The trend estimate for females looking for full-time work generally fell from 215,500 in September 1997 to 152,600 in September 2000. The trend then rose to 187,400 in October 2001, before generally falling to stand at 139,200 in September 2007.

FEMALES AGED 15-19 YEARS

The trend estimate of females aged 15 to 19 years looking for full-time work rose from 33,100 in September 1997 to 38,600 in February 1998. The trend then fell to 24,000 in October 2000, before rising to 30,900 in September 2001. The trend has since generally fallen to stand at 22,700 in September 2007.

FEMALES AGED 20 YEARS AND OVER

The trend estimate of females aged 20 years and over looking for full-time work generally fell from 182,400 in September 1997 to 128,200 in September 2000, before rising to 156,900 in November 2001. The trend estimate then fell to 143,300 in May 2002, before rising to 152,400 in June 2003. The trend has since generally fallen to stand at 116,500 in September 2007.
