The trend then rose to 6.3% in August 2009 before falling to 5.4% in May 2010. FEMALES The trend estimate of the underemployment rate for females fell from 8.7% in May 2000 to 8.5% in February 2001. The trend then generally rose to 9.7% in May 2004 before falling to 7.8% in May 2008. The trend then rose to 9.7% in November 2009 before falling to 9.3% in May 2010. PERSONS The trend estimate of the underemployment rate for persons rose from 6.6% in May 2000 to 7.4% in November 2001. The trend then generally fell to 5.9% in May 2008 before rising to 7.8% in August 2009. The trend has since fallen to 7.2% in May 2010.
