In 2001-02, Victorian farmers produced 294,500 tonnes of potatoes, behind Tasmania (350,100 tonnes) and South Australia (334,700 tonnes).

In 2001-02, 40% of all potatoes produced in Victoria came from Central Highlands Statistical Division (117,800 tonnes) and 27% came from Gippsland Statistical Division (78,900 tonnes).
