ABOUT THIS ELECTRONIC RELEASE

This electronic release presents quarterly government finance statistics (GFS) on an accrual accounting basis.

All tables are presented in GFS operating statement format for the general government sector, with the exception of Table 2 which presents data for the public non financial corporations sector. Tables 1 to 4 provide quarterly GFS from the June quarter 2003 to the September quarter 2004. Tables 5 to 12 show, for each state and territory, total state and local quarterly GFS from the June quarter 2003 to the June quarter 2004.

Table 3 for the Commonwealth general government sector contains September quarter 2004 GFS and revised 2003-04 quarterly GFS which agree in total with Commonwealth final annual GFS from the Final Budget Outcome Statement for 2003-04.

The December quarter 2004 release will contain the September quarter data for the individual state and local tables.

The December quarter 2004 issue is expected to be released on 1 March 2005 and the March quarter 2005 on 31 May 2005, one day before the release of the December quarter 2004 and March quarter 2005 National Accounts publications respectively.
