TAXATION REVENUE AS A PROPORTION OF GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT (GDP)


Total taxation revenue as a proportion of GDP increased from 26% in 2011-12 to 27% in 2012–13. As a percentage of GDP, taxation revenue for the Commonwealth Government was 22%, State Government 4% and Local Government 1%. The percentages were unchanged from 2011–12 for all levels government except for Commonwealth Government which had a 1% increase.
